2023 Reflections: A message from our Founder
Founder + Director Demetrio Zema, shares personal reflections on Law Squared’s landmark year and the course we are charting towards 2024.
Like so many of you, the lead up to Christmas signals a significant surge of activity for the Law Squared team. We are excited to be rounding out the year with our entire team, spanning our offices in London, Sydney, and Brisbane, as they converge in Melbourne to chart our course for 2024. While this gathering is geared towards fostering ongoing team connection, collaboration, and strategic planning for the future, it also provides a fitting opportunity for us to pause and reflect on the remarkable achievements thus far.
For the team at Law Squared, 2023 has been punctuated by some very significant milestones, underscored by continued learning, and growth. From the appointment of our inaugural Chief Legal Officer, to launching both our Digital + Innovation and Privacy + Cyber practice groups, through to the launch of our Legal Ops + Technology Workshops and continuing to grow our presence and team in London, it’s been a year of ambition and growth.
Recently, we were thrilled to formally announce our landmark partnership with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) as their International Law Firm partner. As a passionate enthusiast of classical music, it’s a dream alignment to provide legal counsel support to the MSO executive, management and team of artists and musicians, as we support this beloved institution during their own period of exceptional growth and innovation. I look forward to involving many of our clients and community in memorable musical engagements with the MSO over the coming years.
As we approach our 8th year as a firm, we are deeply appreciative of this community’s ongoing support for our mission to change the conversation about lawyers and provide a true alternative for our lawyers and clients alike. We're ready to tackle 2024 armed with more knowledge, experience, energy and empathy.
A number of clients are considering their leave and resourcing arrangements over the Christmas-New Year period. We encourage you to consider our LSaaS model for fixed cost legal support to enable you and members of your team to disconnect and recharge. Please do reach out to us here to discuss your needs.
And finally, a reminder that cyber risk does not diminish over the holiday period and businesses need to be extra vigilant about preventing unauthorised access or disclosure of customer information. Our Privacy + Cyber team are available to help you get ahead of data handling practices now - and here to help should the worst occur.
We look forward to another year of collaboration with you in 2024, and hope you manage to find the time and space for a restful, reflective break over the holiday period.
