Joanna is an experienced corporate + commercial lawyer with extensive in-house, business, risk and governance experience across multiple jurisdictions and all aspects of the business cycle.
Joanna has spent the majority of her 25+ year legal career in-house, including holding a range of General Counsel and Company Secretary roles in industries such as energy and resources, infrastructure, retail, financial services and aviation. She has advised boards, executive teams and other key stakeholders on a variety of legal and governance matters, enabling organisations to deliver their strategic objectives while appropriately managing risk.
Her extensive understanding of in-house legal teams, executive teams and boards uniquely positions Joanna to service our Energy + Infrastructure clients and support a number of our Law Squared as a Service (LSaaS) clients as a dedicated Relationship Manager.
In particular, having worked across a range of in-house legal teams (including as sole legal counsel), Joanna appreciates the resourcing and budget pressures faced by in-house teams and is committed to delivering solutions that are crafted to meet the needs of each client. She is looking forward to supporting our clients fulfil their unique visions and strategies and deliver their legal and governance services in the most effective way possible.
When not at work, Joanna spends time with her teenage daughter, her partner, family and friends. Her passions include the arts (particularly literature and theatre), travel, spending time outside whenever possible, Pilates and lately the gym, good food and wine, and watching Duke basketball. In more recent times, Joanna has become very passionate about football (in particular, the Matildas and Arsenal!)
Joanna is Deputy Chair of the Melbourne Writers Festival and is on the Board of Powerlink Queensland, including serving as the Chair of the Board’s People, Safety and Environment Committee and as a member of the Board’s CopperString 2032 Project and Mega Projects Committees.
Joanna has a B.A. from Duke University, a J.D. from Harvard Law School and an MBA (Executive) from the Australian Graduate School of Management. She is also a Graduate of the AICD.
