We understand the unique resourcing challenges for in-house legal teams. Whether you’re looking to fill a full time role, have a team member going on short term or extended leave, or need to reshuffle internal resources due to competing priorities, our in-house specialists can step into your legal team at a fraction of the cost of traditional outsourced models.

Leveraging our Relationship Manager model, with access to up to all four of our legal teams, we seamlessly integrate into your business to provide BAU legal support. We use technology to increase efficiency and transparency of workflow and reporting so that you have clear, data-backed visibility of the value you’re getting.

What you get as an Short Term Cover client

  • • Dedicated 'in-house specialist' Relationship Manager

    • Dedicated email address for matter intake (e.g. [email protected])

    • Comprehensive onboarding including workshops with key stakeholders in your business, review of your key documents and background materials

    • Unlimited BAU advice with Law Squared lawyers across key practice areas (commercial, corporate, litigation and employment)

    • Regular telephone catch-up and WIP updates with Relationship Manager

    • Regular reporting and reviews

    • Quarterly CPD sessions conducted as your choice of webinar or as face-to-face training, with no limit on practice area or scope

    • Same day response time to emails and calls

    • Standard matter turnaround time of 5 business days (unless otherwise agreed on a case-by-case basis)

    • Urgent matter turnaround time of 3 business days (unless otherwise agreed on a case-by-case basis).

  • BAU support (e.g. contract drafting, review and negotiation, conducting legal research to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, addressing ad-hoc business queries, high-level advice on trademark and other IP matters, high level regulatory compliance advice including Australian and GDPR privacy advice, marketing and advertising collateral reviews, creating and uplifting templates and policies, and training and supporting internal staff as required).

  • High-level advice on non-transactional corporate work, such as corporate governance and company secretarial matters.

  • High-level advice on any stage of employment lifecycle.

  • Advice and guidance until proceedings are commenced, including Letters of Demand, etc.

*If there are matters that fall out of scope, we can provide you with a separate scope for additional fixed-fee assistance.  

Why should you use Law Squared as a Service?

Our LSaaS model is an innovative alternative to hiring a secondee or a contractor to provide short term cover. While the traditional option provides your business with a dedicated resource, it limits the skill set available to you. You’ll still need to outsource to external law firms when matters fall outside of your employee’s area of practice or for overflow support, adding to the cost of an internal hire.

Through a dedicated Relationship Manager, we invest in developing a deep understanding of your business, your goals and your ways of working. We retain that business information following our engagements, so that unlike a contractor or a secondee, we can seamlessly step in to support you again if your needs change in future.

Despite being one of the world’s largest engineering and electronics companies, Bosch’s Australian legal team is small in size. Led by General Counsel, Anne Lock, the team looks after all legal services needs, with a view to ensure that they are mitigating the risk to the business and ensuring that they remain compliant in everything they do.

When leading a small team, the responsibility of managing internal workloads and seeking additional support falls to the General Counsel. Anne was in need of additional support to assist while a team member was on parental leave, and then again when the business was recruiting for a permanent lawyer for their growing legal team.
