Next month Law Squared celebrates our 8th year as a business, a milestone that prompts reflection on the significant moments along the way. From pioneering initiatives such as LSaaS and Digital + Innovation, to the establishment of international offices, each step has moved us towards our mission to be a global law firm changing the conversations people have about lawyers and a true alternative to the traditional law firm model.

Amidst these achievements, what resonates most profoundly are the invaluable relationships we've forged with our clients, friends and community. Law Squared has been built on strong foundations of support and we are extremely grateful and humbled that so many individuals and organisations have chosen to partner with us in our mission.

The Law Squared Mission

While Law Squared has expanded in size, service offering, and capabilities, our ethos and values remain unchanged: to put our clients and team at the centre of everything we do. We are dedicated to delivering legal services in a more human-centred way and strive to improve the legal profession for the better, globally.

From our inception, Law Squared has been committed in our resolve to dispense with time-based billing and performance management metrics, and traditional hierarchical structures. Law Squared continues to be the only firm of our size – globally – to operate exclusively on an upfront, fixed-fee, value-based billing model. It's a point of difference that fills me with pride, yet also underscores the slow pace of change in our profession.

Creating impact with legal spend 

In an age of increasing corporate responsibility, legal expenditure, like other areas of corporate spending, is being scrutinised for its alignment and contribution on broader ESG goals. General Counsel play a pivotal role here, redirecting their legal spend away from firms that perpetuate negative behaviours and practices, towards firms that foster positive impact for both lawyers and clients alike.

Tackling lawyer burnout, providing greater customer centricity and fostering positive change have long been discussed. Perhaps 2024 is the year we will see greater impact?

As we enter our birthday month and another year, we appreciate your continued support. We are excited about the year ahead and look forward to continuing to pursue our mission in 2024.
