Gino Joseph

Gino is a Disputes and Litigation Lawyer at Law Squared, with more than eight years’ experience acting for creditors, debtors and insolvency practitioners across Australia. He has acted on behalf of commercial clients, individuals, liquidators and trustees in contested matters in almost all courts across NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, the ACT as well as the commonwealth courts.
Gino’s path to law was anything but linear. Before studying law, he spent over 10 years in businesses across Australia, New Zealand and Asia, including private equity, manufacturing (in Suzhou, China) as well as in a mobile money start-up, where he was part of the founding team that deployed over 16,000 terminals to service the 94% unbanked population of Myanmar. He is fluent in Mandarin and speaks Spanish at a conversational level.
Gino draws on this commercial experience when he approaches disputes for his clients and is known for practical, outcome-focused advice, running high-volume portfolios as well as handling complex, contested matters. He has previously led a team of 15 direct reports who together managed around 300 active court matters per month. His expertise includes enforcement of judgments, winding up applications, creditor’s petitions, and recovery claims for insolvency practitioners such as insolvent trading, unfair preferences and director loans as well as other commercial disputes.
At Law Squared, Gino assists small and large commercial clients recover debts in a timely, cost-effective manner at all stages of the matter including pre-litigation, undefended and defended proceeding, enforcement and settlement. His client base includes large insurance firms, utility companies, education institutions, other law firms, trustees and liquidators and individuals.
Outside of work, Gino enjoys spending time at the beach with his young family and cooking.
