Edmund Yuan
Property + Projects Lawyer
Edmund brings over six years of experience across private practice, in-house and on-site roles, advising on land, compulsory acquisition and construction matters for major infrastructure, energy and social housing projects.
Edmund spent over four years on a multibillion-dollar Victorian road and rail infrastructure program, where he advised on the acquisition, occupation and divestment of land under the Major Transport Projects Facilitation Act 2009 (Vic) and the Land Acquisition and Compensation Act 1986 (Vic). A secondment to a tier-one contractor on a $234 million project gave him a view of delivery from the other side of the table. He went on to advise on EPC and equipment supply contracts for battery and compressed air energy storage projects in private practice, and on construction and procurement for the State’s $5.3 billion social housing program.
That blend of land and construction experience is what Edmund brings to the Energy + Infrastructure team. Having worked alongside acquiring authorities, contractors and government, he understands how land access, statutory timeframes and construction programs fit together, and how a delay in one affects the others. He enjoys turning complex statutory processes into clear, practical steps, with a focus on commercial outcomes and the people affected by them.
At Law Squared, Edmund is part of the team delivering a large-scale compulsory acquisition program on a major energy infrastructure project, and is looking forward to helping clients navigate the transition to renewable energy. He was drawn to Law Squared by its commitment to doing things differently and its focus on people rather than the billable hour.
Outside of work, Edmund can be found in the gym, on the badminton court, or in the kitchen cooking something nutritious. He also loves music and travel, and speaks three languages.
